White: The Melody of the Curse (2011 Korean Horror Film)

Dear Entertainment Diary,

So I just watched another Korean Horror Film, White: The Melody of the Curse, also known as White: The Melody of Death, and I kinda like it!

For me, it's not a typical horror film which you can understand everything into it just by watching the whole film itself. There are some important scenes but were very unnoticeable and I need to take some hints online or check some pages that contain the complete film list/plot. I don't know why but was I just a lil' bit slow when I was watching it?

Ok, so, it's about a cursed suicidal song wherein the writer/composer seeks revenge to anyone who sang it. Cursed things with revengeful plot lines are typically normal for Asian Horror film, which for me, started to see huge fame since The Ring and The Grudge. It's very typical that I think Asian horror writers and directors have nothing new to offer so I was expecting a natural horror film but this actually made me confused and think so hard just to tie up the story, which is good because I was so attached to the film that I wanna know everything about it.

For me, it's not that scary. Yes, scenes thrilled and scared me but not like what I felt while watching some horror films that I previously watched. BUT still, the just by watching it make feel afraid to go to the bathroom especially the scenes where the spirit/ghost was haunting the characters.

Although I am glad on how the story made me feel confuse and made me search for what was really happening, there are really some parts of the film that have loopholes and stuff which is kind of unbelievable. I.e., the scene where Shin-Ji was crushed by that certain vehicle that rise up the camera, I thought she was dead. Actually, what happened to the first 3 members should've killed them already. Obviously, they should die that time, but no, for the story's sake, all of them were just comatose for I dunno, "weeks?", and then when White (Eun-Joo) is on the peak of popularity, they all woke up at the same time then their characters were also killed near the end. I mean, why let them live if they would also commit suicide in the end? Just so they can blame and accuse Eun Joo for sabotaging them when they were chosen as the main? Tss.

Another thing, the Group Pink Dolls were consisted of four members in the start but when the members was hosptalized one by one, they didn't emphasize nor shown in the film what were the "natural reactions" of the fans? What? The fans were also mesmerized by the song so they didn't care about their idols even when they were hurt BADLY? So why did the fans wanted to save Shin-Ji when she was floating in mid air when her hair was stuck?

But overall, I liked the film for slowly giving us each detail in the film and for not obviously hinting us how the characters will die.

PLOT (from asianwiki):

Girl group "Pink Dolls" is always pushed into the background by other popular idols. When the girls release their new song "White" - a remake from unknown origins they become instant sensations.
The four members of "Pink Dolls" include Eun-Joo (Ham Eun-Jung), a former breakdancer, Jenny (Jin Se-Yeon), a singer insecure with hitting high notes, A-Rang (Choi Ah-Ra), a singer addicted to plastic surgery, and Shin-Ji (May Doni Kim) who can't sing, but is good at rapping. As the group becomes more and more popular, jealousy and competitiveness increases as all the girls tries to become the lead singer. But, when a member becomes the lead singer that person falls victim to a horrible accident, one by one. Eun-Joo then realizes that the song "White" is cursed and she attempts to reveal the secret ...
I put this plot because I don't want to tell here the whole story or give mainly about the film. If you want to read the complete plot, wikipedia has it! But I advise you to go and just watch the film instead of reading the whole plot so you can feel what I feel.

Cast (from asianwiki)

Ham Eun-Jung - Eun-Joo
May Doni Kim - Shin-Ji
Choi Ah-Ra - A-Rang
Jin Se-Yeon - Jenny
Hwang Woo Seul Hye - Soon-Ye
Pyeon Jung-Su - Talent Agent

Kim Ki-Bang - manager
Choi Min-Chul - Director Choi Tae-Gon
Nam Sang-Ran - member 1 of Jang team

I mentioned earlier about the film not giving me everything I want to know so I need to research about it. I was actually telling you guys about the end of the film, on how the song was played in the videoke and why the last character killed was included to be killed. You'll find out in the wikipedia page, actually. HAHA. And also about who is th on seeking revenge in this film.

OH! And can someone tell me who's the actor who played the sponsor of Eun-Joo? Can't seem to find his name!

The Way MV (2013 Song by Ariana Grande ft. Mac Miller

Dear Entertainment Diary,

So, been hearing rave reviews and comment, especially on twitter, about Ariana's new song, "The Way", and actually right now, it's one of the top trending topics on twitter. (Proud Of The Way) #ProudOfTheWay.

Technically, I am a fan (but not that much) of this girl when I first saw her on Victorious. I love her song Put Your Hearts Up, and her version song / when she sang the demo version of Demi's You're My Only Shorty and damn, when you hear her sing, her voice is just powerfully RNB-ish especially when you hear her belting all those high notes.

Now, on this new single by her ft Mac Miller, I was actually blown away. I actually am hoping for a typical pop song but I heard was Mariah Carey's voice and style of singing! Yes, and a lot of people agree, right? She sounds like Mariah in her new song, and t is pretty darn good! But,  just hope her next songs would differ from Marah's vocals and styles as we want singers with unique voice and talents. But,  love this song and t's on repeat and up till now, I'm still amazed how she sounds like Mariah here.

It's just so good that the Nickelodeon Princess is soaring high and leaving a pop/bubblegum style in music and instead embracing the more adult (not that much) type of RNB and she can now be compared to Mariah. Not that she's as good as her but she'll get to it one day as I believe in Ariana's talent.

Meanwhile, here is the official music video of the song, enjoy:

Dora Explorer and the Destiny Medallion: The Movie (CollegeHumor)

Dear Entertainment Diary,

So my brother and I just watched the 2 parts of the 3-part-miniseries by College Humor, "Dora The Explorer and the Destiny Medallion".

I got hooked up with this Dora videos when I saw the Dora The Explorer trailer also made by College Humor and I said to myself that I would love to see it as it is very wittingly funny.

So as I was browsing in YouTube, I saw that College Humor already uploaded the first part but I also found out that they released it on their website last week and now it has its 2nd part, and next week, the last part will be released, so Let's do this!

I am very excited to finish it now! HAHA.

Part 1:

Part 2:

Trailer that started it all (for me):

I've got to say that they all did a great job, especially Ariel Winter for portraying Dora and some environments of the cartoon and made it somehow realistically funny. SOMEHOW.

All the media on this page were from CollegeHumor.com. I don't own anything although I wish that I become a part of this in the future. HAHA!

X Game (2010 Japanese Horror Film)

Dear Entertainment Diary,

Wew! So finally, I  have seen few moments ago the film that introduced me to the series Liar Game, Liar Game Season 2, Liar Game the Final Stage, and Liar Game: Reborn. I was so psyched up while watching this film!

I hate how Japanese film directors directed their segments in the anthology film The ABCs of Death but I felt alive when I watched this film which brought my faith back to them. I am wanting to see this film since last year and at last, someone uploaded it on dramacrazy.net and I am very thankful to him/her.

Moving on to the film. The film gave me the chills, the scares, gores, the suspense and the thriller that I was expecting. What I did not expect was the story. I expected a lot different but what I saw was better than  thought. There's a story behind the film unlike what I thought that it just full of penalty execution and stuff. The film also mixed up some comedy to lighten the viewers from the mood of being scared.

What I think about the film:

To tell you the truth, unexpectedly, I got startled on one scene of the movie and damn, my brother laughed at me. I love how I felt that I was watching real people being punished and not some actors only acting n the film. I love how they shot the film. I love how I sympathize with the players and felt sorry for Chie and Hideaki and  love how hated the 2 assholes Takeshi and Tetsuya.

What I hate is the effect! Yes, the gore is there, the environment of fear and bullying, the suspense, and the unexpected ending, but the effects of the smoke and fire were all plain obviously darn FAKE! Ugh. I wished they did better.

Aside from the effect, everything else fall into their respective places and you just have to stay back, relax, and enjoy the film. The acting of the actors were not stand outs but they are still believable and acted their part  good.

I thought that this s a copycat of SAW series and I was not wrong. HAHAHA. Both are for revenge although with different purposes, causes, and effects. When I said unexpected above, characters were also included. It is in the end of the film will you realized that a character in the film isn't introduced without a purpose! Even if he/she only appeared a couple of minutes before the climax. You might be surprised, they are important parts of the film.

Plot:(from aisanwiki)
Four young people find themselves in a classroom and forced to participate in the "X Game". Games include "Thumbtack on a chair," "Pencil Guillotine," "Clip," "School Lunch," "Slap," and the "Death Penalty". Who is behind the games? Will these young people make it out alive?

So, the plot did not say anything that can spoil the viewers, right? So I'll just say that this is a kind of film where the plot revolves around revenge! Never heard of that? Yeah... So the "contestants of the game" played 13 rounds  of draw lots kind of game which give them the punishment they need to receive... Another thing about the film, I like it for discouraging bullying! Yep. I hate bullying and I hope bullies can learn a thing or two from this film!

Cast:(from asianwiki:)

Hirofumi Araki - Hideaki Kokubo
Ayaka Kikuchi - Rikako Myojin
Haruka Nakagawa - Tomoe Koizhumi
Masashi Mikami - Tadashi Ishimatsu
Shota Chiyo - Tsuyoshi Shinjou
Meguru Kato - Tetsuya Yoshiike
Kazuyuki Aijima - Detective Murota
Shingo Tsurumi - Professor Akama

Now,  can't wait for it's sequel, X Game 2 which was just released last year so 'm not so sure when will someone upload it!

the images was taken from it's asianwiki page. I don't own the copyrights for it.

Mundo Mo'y Akin ( 2013 Philippine TV Series)

Dear Entertainment Diary,

So I just watched the premiere episode of the newest offering from GMA Network's prmetime block, Mundo Mo'y Akin and I enjoyed every bit of it! Angelika dela Cruz and Sunshine Dizon-Tan returned in primetime to make us cry, and unexpectedly, laugh, as well!

What I like about this series is that it did not start off with the characters' childhood lives. It started very directly and has a fast pace which is good, not boring. It's Enjoyable. Entertaining. Impressive.

The opening act/scene of this series is just so entertainingly funny especially with Rodora's lines and their dance moves in the town party.

Angelika, for me, stands out in the pilot episode as I feel her character as if it's really a real person in the real world. She's just so dedicated in the role and I can feel it as she gave me shivers during the dramatic scenes. Sunshine, on the other hand, still has her talents of acting and did a good job, although Angelika almost had the most scenes in this pilot episode and steal all. I remember her Bakekang days, how she made us cry, because of their prosthetic to make them uglier than ever.

I was actually very excited about this drama ever since saw it in Facebook especially after reading that Sunshine Dizon-Tan is now finally returning in acting after her long break in showbizness, as well as the fact that she is joining a powerhouse cast including Angelika dela Cruz, Jacklyn Jose, Gabby Eigenmann, and Jolina Magdangal-Escueta. And let's not forget the return in primetime of one of the most beloved love teams today, Louise delos Reyes and Alden Richards, plus the new kapuso actress, Lauren Young.

Plot: (from wikipedia)

Childhood best friends Rodora (Angelika dela Cruz) and Perlita (Sunshine Dizon) have always suffered from the incessant taunting and ridicule for their ugly features. While Perlita accepted these criticisms gracefully and is satisfied with her life, Rodora believed that there's no future and hope for unattractive people like them.
Armed with her sheer determination, Rodora works under Donya Carmen, a rich but abusive old lady. When Donya Carmen dies of heart attack, Rodora claims all her wealth and uses it to go under the knife for a new face. She completely put her past behind her and changes her name to Giselle (Angelika dela Cruz).
Meanwhile, Perlita is willing to love any man who will accept her entirely despite her physical flaw. This leads her to trust a Fil-Am guy whom she believes loves her sincerely. But after one night, this guy dumps, and takes all her money. Left with no choice but to accept her fate, Perlita works as a maid in the mansion of the Carbonels.
By some twist of fate, the paths of former friends Perlita and Rodora cross again in the mansion. However, Giselle is now the wife of Ziggy (Gabby Eigenmann), the son of Charito(Jaclyn Jose), the matriarch of Carbonel's Barong. Unknown to Perlita, the beautiful wife of her boss is childhood best friend Rodora.
Soon after, Giselle and Perlita get pregnant at the same time. Giselle is anxious and concerned that her child will inherit her ugly features. And this situation will bring shame on Ziggy's family and will eventually reveal her true identity.
Giselle's worst fears become reality when she gives birth to an ugly baby. Her world is shattered and she knows that her relationship with Ziggy is over. Perlita, on the other hand, is surprised with her cute and beautiful baby. But after giving birth, she passed out.
Giselle learns from Aida (Jolina Magdangal), Ziggy's cousin, about Perlita's baby. Giselle conspires with Aida to switch her ugly baby with Perlita's child and in return, she will support her in the family business. Aida agrees and Giselle successfully covers up her identity and switches the two babies.
As years pass by, Perlita dutifully takes care of her daughter Marilyn (Louise delos Reyes) while Giselle raises Darlene (Lauren Young) as her own child. Marilyn and Darlene become close despite their social status. But things will turn differently when Jerome(Alden Richards), Aida's son, who has always defended Marilyn, will fall in love with Darlene. A love triangle ensues and Darlene and Marilyn are now rivals.
What I like more about this series is that there's a lesson we can learn here. That ugly people also have all the rights to live in this world. That anyone can enjoy life no matter how they look like.

As I mentioned above, I like the first episode for it is very satisfyingly enjoyable and I am hoping we can see more of this as the series go by...

Cast:

Louise delos Reyes as Marilyn Mendoza
Alden Richards as Jerome Alvarez
Lauren Young as Darlene Carbonel
Jolina Magdangal as Aida Carbonel
Angelika dela Cruz as Rodora/Giselle
Sunshine Dizon as Perlita Mendoza
Gabby Eigenmann as Ziggy Carbonel
Jaclyn Jose as Charito Carbonel

You can watch it on GMA Network after Indio and before Temptation of Wife Philippine Remake, replacing Pahiram ng Sandali on ts time slot.

Rule The World by Selena Gomez and the Scene

Dear Entertainment Diary,

I can't believe I let this one slipped from my senses when it leaked last 3 days ago. Dayuuuuum!

Moving on, you probably know that Selena and Justin broke up. Yeah. Bummer. And this comeback song from her is actually a broke up song, probably pertaining/targeting Justin with her lyrics!

Just by reading the title of the song,  actually didn't realized that t is a break up song until  heard the song and read the lyrics.

Well, I think this song is kind of good? I don't know. I think it's very repetitive and only focused in the Chorus unlike Love You Like A Love Song, it's repetitiveness suits the song very well as it explains everything but this song just lacks more lyrics to explain how their love was supposed to rule the world. Selena's voice also grew and got matured which doesn't suit her baby face, very pretty baby face, and just like her previous songs, it's tone kind of low and very hard for me to sing. Of course, because we have different vocal ranges.

The song is still likable as it's different than any other break up songs for its very lively music, wanting us to know that she's ready to move on, I think? My favorite part of the song is in the chorus where the instrumental begins to play and then she sings "Forget Forever". I just feel so alive and standing up from the ground and ready to run n a very beautiful and greeny scenery or hill or garden or something.

Her voice,  think it's autotuned? Well......... Everyone uses it anyways, so what's new? I just hope she can sing this song good in live. It's not a single type for me but it's still a keeper and we can probably say that Selena wants us to tell something or at least she wants to tell Justin some things about their broken relationship that's why she chose this song?

Well, Demi released her song, "Heart Attack", and Selena released "Rule The World", and now it's time for my goddess Miley Cyrus to release her single!!! Come on Miley!

Lyrics:

I told I told I told myself again
I'm never running back on world I said
Trying not to roam but you're so... far away
So far away
Won't listen to the conscience in my head
I'm conscious but I'm lonely, half way dead
Tired of the things you never, you never said
You never said

CHROUS
Our love was made to rule the world
You came and broke the perfect girl
Our love was made to rule the world
Our love was made to rule the world
You left me wanting what we were
Our love was made to rule the world
Forget forever
Forget forever
Forget you ever knew my name
My name, my name, my name

I know I know I know we can pretend
Though we were never lovers in the end
I try to tell myself this pain would go away
Just go away

CHROUS
Our love was made to rule the world
You came and broke the perfect girl
Our love was made to rule the world
Our love was made to rule the world
You left me wanting what we were
Our love was made to rule the world
Forget forever
Forget forever
Forget you ever knew my name
My name, my name, my name
Forget forever
Forget forever

22 Music Video by Taylor Swift

"Who's Taylor Swift anyway? Ew" - LOL

Dear Entertainment Diary,

After watching the music video of Taylor's song "I Knew You Were Trouble.", I have read in Taylor's wiki page that her next single would be 22 and it would be released on February something. But the date of released changed to March 13,2013 the next time I visited the page so I think it sucks because I have to wait another month before I could see her new vid. But I realized that Tay-Tay is a very busy woman, has hectic scheds and doing some writing new songs either about her ex, her present bf, or friends so I waited patiently for this day to see the new video and guess what? It was just released 3 hours ago! Whoopie!

So this is her 4th single from her latest album, Red, and this is one of the best songs in it!Vert upbeat and overly energetic because of its beat, and could also be a party anthem, especially when you are having a slumber party with your friends!

You know what? For me, this is my most favorite Taylor Swift video to date! So, move over Love Story and You Belong with Me! I have a new fave now!

What I like about this video is clearly, for me, it is a far step up from her previous music video, I Knew You Were Trouble, as it is very dark, and I hate small screens when it comes to music videos. Although both videos were directed by the same director, 22 elevated in my likeness as it contains many fun scenes and we could see Taylor doing her fun stuff, naturally! There are so many scenes here that are must like and must see, especially when the camera focused on Tay-Tay and were played in slow-mo, she's just GORGE! This video made me like her more than ever! I Knew You Were Trouble has a great music video, as well, but it delivered and showed us dark side and a new punk Taylor, but here in 22, we could see that she is really in her natural self, having fun with her friends in the beach, partying in the pool side and a club/mansion, dressing up, and forgetting deadlines, problems, and most of all, her exes, and these were shown in instagram styles! Oh, and Tay-Tay surprised us in the end with her "Free-Fall" hahahaha! Love it!

Visit this for Red's Hidden Messages to know who were the inspiration for this song.

Enjoy the video, guys!

The Greatest Love (2011 Korean TV Series)

"Gu Ae-Jung... You are my greatest  Love..."

Dear Entertainment Diary,

So, if you are a Filipino, you probably have heard about this Koreanovela as it is currently airing here in the Philippines on GMA Network.

Straight to the point, this is my most favorite Korean drama to date. Why? Simply because this is not just your typical RomCom series! I thought I Miss You is a great example of melodrama but how can this series make me cry for so many times? In other words, it contains different genres that a typical person would wanna watch to be satisfied in a lonely moment. Actually, I'm not satisfied. I'm very satisfied and enraging with different emotions as I watched the last episode! I'm actually sad that I finished this very quickly but I'm also happy that I have watched this series.

I said that this is my most favorite K-drama to date. Why? Because aside from what the title signifies, there are also many more greatest things included in this series. The Greatest Love, for starters. Then, the greatest couple. Greatest Song (Thump Thump/Heartbeat). The greatest friends. The greatest protector. The greatest/grandest entrance of the set of heart physicians ever. The greatest artificial heart. The greatest sidekick. The greatest manager. The greatest company director/president. The greatest everything! The list go on and it can take forever for me to mention it all.

I'm just glad that I came across with this drama and I'm hoping that I will watch another drama as grand and has a beautiful story as this. RomCom series don't actually make mecry. Yes, they can make me laugh and make "Kilig" for some of the comedic and sweet scenes but this series just made me cry for a lot of scenes! Perhaps, the acting of the cast just shot me in the heart then the bullet of emotions just went straight to my brain and commanded me to express those different types of emotions!

As I watch the series, I can't help myself but to laugh with Cha Seung-Won's acting especially when his mouth opens! This is the first drama of him that I have ever watched and I'm surprised that with a very masculine body and a very manly looking face like that can give us too much effortless comedic scenes! It's just that he's very perfect for the role! Again, his acting was very effortless!

As for Kong Hyo-Jin, this is also the very first drama of hers that I have watched and I gotta praise her as well for her acting! Her, acting as a very respectful protectors of  everyone around her suits her well. Yoo In-Na, I think I saw her on Little Black Dress along side with my Yoon Eun-Hye and I read that she also starred in Queen In-Hyun's Man which will be aired in GMA Network as well as in Secret Garden. For me, she actually didn't do many evil things, as I expected her to be the very with of the series, but still she's good at acting very much in love with Yoon Kye-Sang's character!

As I said, this drama has it all. All the most "kilig" or the sweetest moments here can make you tingle straight to the bones! It can also make you cry as if you're the one in the story for being very affected especially the time when Gu-Jin sacrificed his image for her love. It can make you dance for its very catchy thee song. You can laugh every time Dok Gu-Jin opens his mouth and do all crazy stuff for his Gu Ae-Jong. You can also fell in love with Yoon Pil-Joo for he is the most perfect man and you can be irritated with Kang Se-Ri for his selfishness but most of all, we can all sympathize with Gu Ae-Jong for her braveness and for her protecting everyone she loves. You see? What can you ask for? I actually dreamed about this drama one time because I really want to watch and finish it! But although I finished it already, I think I'll still gonna watch it as I really want this drama and also, I wanna hear the theme songs; Bakit Ngayon by Julie Anne San Jose and Dugung Dugung ( Heartbeat / Thump Thump Tagalog Version) by Rita Iringan.

Here's the plot of the drama: (From  asianwiki):
"The Greatest Love" depicts a sometimes comical, sometimes sad, sometimes sweet and sometimes maddening love square between a popular actor, a washed up former pop idol, a successful former pop idol, and a doctor of traditional Asian medicine.
10 years ago, girl group "Kukbo Sonyeo (National Treasure Girls)" was the top girl group, but 18 months later the group held a press conference announcing their breakup--for unknown reasons. Since that time, lead vocalist Ku Ae-Jung (Kong Hyo-Jin) has gone through many difficulties; she released a solo album, but it flopped. Many negative rumors also swirled around her, but again, for unknown reasons, she never discussed them or explained them in any way. This led the public to develop a very negative image of her. Her father and brother lost all the money from her brief success on a string of failed business ventures. Now 10 years later, she is known to of the public only as a D-lister, the bottom of the celebrity pile, but she still struggles to maintain her career and take care of her family by appearing on any TV or radio programs that will have her.
Meanwhile, top actor Dok Ko-Jin (Cha Seung-Won) is considered by the public as the perfect man; he is an action movie star who is sexy, yet humble--to the public. In actuality, Dok Ko-Jin is arrogant, self absorbed, and downright mean to those who know him. By chance, Dok Ko-Jin and Ku Ae-Jung cross paths at a gas station. Ku Ae-Jung seems to be recognized by a young fan and, because she is flattered, stands next to Dok Ko-Jin's decked out van while he is still sitting inside--as if it is hers. After the fan leaves, she becomes curious who might be in the van and peers into the heavily tinted windows, but is unable to see anything. Dok Ko-Jin sees her trying to peer through the window and believing she is a fan of his, grabs her arm through a partially opened window and autographs his cyrptic signature onto her palm. He then has his driver drive off without identifying himself to her.
Later on, Dok Ko-Jin and Ku Ae-Jung meet again in the lobby of a TV broadcasting company. Through a series of mishaps, Ku Ae-Jung finds herself hiding in Dok Ko-Jin's dressing room and overhears a conversation between Dok Ko-Jin and his manager where she learns that Dok Ko-Jin had his eardrum ruptured during a shooting scene and he wasn't picked for a coveted movie role, even though he bribed the director with a very expensive bottle of wine. On her way out of his dressing room, she bumps into Dok Ko-Jin and when he autographs his name on her scarf she realizes that he was the arrogant star at the gas station in the van.

Ku Ae-Jung then appears on the variety TV show "Sebakwi" and lies to the staff that she can call the famous actor Dok Ko-Jin during the show's speed quiz segment. Before she goes on, she asks Dok Ko-Jin to take her call--but he refuses. However, for some reason when the show airs he changes his mind and actually takes her phone call. Unfortunately for both, Ku Ae-Jung, caught up in the excitement and pressure of the game, accidentally reveals one of the secrets that she overheard in his dressing room--that Dok Ko-Jin tried to bribe a movie director with a bottle of wine. This leads to the beginning of their tumultuous, often hilarious relationship...
We continue to see the ups and downs of their relationship and there are several surprising things that the storywriters let happen to both characters throughout the series as their relationship continues to build and develop.
Another wonderful Hong Sisters drama, arguably the best of their career, "The Greatest Love" carries a dual meaning. The most obvious is the love Ko-Jin grows to have for Ae-Jung, but just as important and poignant is the deep, sacrificial love Ae-Jung has for the people in her life. It's Ae-Jung's willingness to sacrifice herself that lies behind why she finds it so difficult to escape her bad image and the rumors that follow her."
